MORGAN HILL, Calif. (KION-TV) – The California Highway Patrol confirms that one person was killed in a fatal crash in Morgan Hill Tuesday evening around 9:17 p.m.

The accident occurred on Highway 101 northbound at Cochrane Road. A California Highway Patrol spokesperson confirmed that a 19-year-old woman from San Jose was traveling northbound on Highway 101 on a Yamaha motorcycle.

Officials said several cars, including a Kia Forte, a Dodge Ram and a Ford Escape, were in traffic because a semi-truck had overturned on the highway in front of them.

Investigators said the motorcyclist caused the accident with the Kia Forte and also collided with the Dodge Ram and was thrown from his motorcycle.

The woman came to a stop under the Dodge Ram. The motorcycle skidded east and struck a Ford Escape, according to the CHP.

Officials said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident and the drivers of the vehicles suffered no injuries.

The spokesman said it was not known whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
