DDOT investigates intersection where 77-year-old woman was struck and killed – NBC4 Washington

The Washington, D.C. Department of Transportation will investigate the scene of a fatal pedestrian crash on Foxhall Road in the northwest to determine if safety changes are needed, the agency said.

Patricia Bullinger, 77, was struck and killed by an SUV on June 5 as she crossed Foxhall Road and Q Street in a marked crosswalk.

As Bullinger was turning left, she was hit by the SUV. She fell and hit her head.

DDOT is ensuring all trees in the area are appropriately trimmed to improve visibility, the agency said. Traffic calming measures for left turns are being considered.

Better lighting, no-turn rules on red lights and traffic lights with more reflective edges are also being considered.

The SUV that struck Bullinger had failed to pay thousands of dollars in traffic violations. The identity of the driver, who remained at the scene of the accident, has not been released.

A vigil for Bullinger is planned for 7 p.m. at the corner of Foxhall Road and Q Street.
