Man arrested after 10-hour standoff in Batavia

ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) — A man has been charged with firing his gun near several homes in the city of Batavia following a 10-hour standoff in the Route 5 area.

According to the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, they responded to a report of shots fired in the area of ​​Route 5 and Wörterdyke Road. They arrived at 12:25 p.m.


Hours later, around 10:15 p.m., officers obtained a search warrant for a home on Route 5. They said they found 31-year-old Ryan J. Goldman inside the home. It was alleged that Goldman had been firing his rifle near other homes.

Goldman was arrested and charged with second-degree reckless endangerment and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling. He was issued a summons and will appear in Batavia Municipal Court on June 25, 2024.
