NEW DELHI: A seven-year-old girl was allegedly sexually abused by her neighbour in south Delhi, an official said on Monday, adding that the 16-year-old accused has been arrested.

Police said that on Sunday, the police control room received a distress call about a sexual assault on a minor girl at the Lodhi Colony police station.

When we reached the scene of the accident, we found the survivor, a resident of Meharchand Market, with her mother.

“The girl’s mother told police that her daughter was sexually abused three to four days ago at the house of her neighbour, who is also a minor,” a senior police official said.

Accordingly, based on the statement of the complainant, the police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Sexual Assault on Children Act at Lodhi Colony police station. “The youth has been arrested and sent to an observation home. Further investigation is on,” the officer added.

The incident came a month after an 8-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and sexually assaulted in the Mehrauli area by a man who was selling toys there.
