21-year-old Maine motorcyclist killed in car crash – NECN

A 21-year-old motorcyclist was killed in an accident with a car in Augusta, Maine, on Thursday morning.

Augusta police told Boston affiliate NBC10 News Center Maine that the accident occurred shortly before 9 a.m. at the intersection of North Belfast Avenue and Lambert Avenue.

According to a preliminary investigation, the driver of the car turned left from Lambert Avenue onto North Belfast Avenue while the motorcycle was traveling east.

The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries in the crash and was flown to Maine Medical Center, where he died Thursday afternoon, police said. He was identified as Hunter Davis of Augusta, News Center Maine reports.

The driver of the car, a 77-year-old man, was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center and is expected to be OK, police said.

The investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
