First Alert Weather: Not typical early summer weather

ROCHESTER, NY – Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected Friday, with more rain forecast for the weekend.

It won’t be a washout, however, as Saturday will be the day with the most dry conditions. Overall, the weather pattern across North America will not favor warmer weather – especially for communities in the Northeast and the Great Lakes. In fact, the next four days will likely bring below-average temperatures in Rochester. As a result, most of us won’t need air conditioning until well into next week.

Persistent showers or thunderstorms are expected Friday night, easing in the evening. Skies will be partly cloudy for the rest of the night, with a low of around 10 degrees. Saturday will see some sunshine and most of the day will be dry, but there is only a slight chance of isolated showers.

It will be windy at times and maximum temperatures will be just a few degrees above 21 degrees. There will be some rain later on Saturday evening and on Sunday. Rain may become more frequent on Sunday afternoon. Maximum temperatures will be just above 18 degrees.

Next week will be warmer and drier again, but not until late Tuesday and Wednesday. Stay tuned to News 10NBC First Alert Weather for up-to-date forecasts.
