A North Platte man faces assault charges after he beat a man unconscious and hospitalized following an accident on Thursday, according to police.

Nicholas Wright, 25, faces first-degree assault charges in Lincoln County District Court.

According to an affidavit, North Platte police were called to a crash at the intersection of Francis and Willow streets around 6 p.m. Wednesday. An officer said a vehicle was turning south on Willow Street when another vehicle driven by Wright rear-ended it.
