Russians have attacked energy facilities in six regions of Ukraine

Tonight, May 8, Russian forces once again launched a massive attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. The attacks targeted six regions.

This was announced by Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko and the head of the Zaporizhia regional state administration, Ivan Fedorov, as well as UkrEnergo.

“The enemy is not giving up his plans to deprive the Ukrainians of electricity. Another massive attack on our energy infrastructure,” he wrote.

According to Halushchenko’s information, the attacked power generation and transmission facilities are located in the Poltava, Kirovohrad, Zaporizhia, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Vinnytsia regions.

“The enemy wants to take away our ability to produce and transmit sufficient electricity,” said the minister and called on Ukrainians to use electricity sparingly, especially in the morning and evening hours.

The head of the Zaporizhia regional state administration reported attacks on critical and civilian infrastructure objects.

“There is destruction. “No losses for now,” Fedorov wrote.

UkrEnergo reports strikes in the energy sector in five regions: Vinnytsia, Zaporizhia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kirovohrad and Poltava.

The equipment of one of the generating plants in the central region was damaged.

Previously, the Poltava regional state administration reported that despite the successful work of the air defense forces, there were hits on energy infrastructure objects in the Poltava region during the massive Russian drone attack.

Explosions were also heard during the Russian night attack with drones and cruise missiles:

  • in the Kharkiv and Poltava regions,
  • in the Zaporizhia and Ivano-Frankivsk regions,
  • in the Lviv region,
  • in Kyiv and the Kyiv region.
