Minnesota Twins Probable Pitchers and Starting Lineup vs. Houston Astros, June 1

It appears the pendulum has finally swung the other way for the Minnesota Twins. After consecutive series sweeps at the hands of the Yankees and Guardians, the Twins have won eight of their last 11 games and are looking for a fourth straight series victory.

Things started off well Friday night in Houston, where Minnesota had no problem getting through the Astros. The Twins gave Ronel Blanco his first really bad start to the season by rolling to a 6-1 win.

The win is also cathartic in that it helps the team fight back after Houston bounced Minnesota in the ALDS last October. There’s still a lot of work to do for the Twins to get back to that level, but the way the team won on Friday was a huge confidence booster that can hopefully lead them to a successful weekend.

After a phenomenal start from Pablo Lopez, Joe Ryan (4-3, 2.96 ERA) will look to not only follow what happened Friday night, but will also look to continue its own hot streak. Ryan has finally started to become the ace the Twins need to be alongside Lopez, and he has a chance to further solidify that on Saturday.

Since getting mauled by the Yankees a few weeks ago, Ryan has bounced back with two solid outings against Washington and Kansas City. He combined for 15 strikeouts in 14 innings over those two starts, allowing just seven hits and just one run.

This is the Joe Ryan the Twins have wanted to see for a while and it looks like he’s finally found his groove this season.

Framer Valdez (3-3, 4.34 ERA) will be on the other side for the Houston Astros. He saw the Twins last year in the ALDS but would probably like to forget that. He pitched the only game Houston lost, getting blown out for five runs on seven hits in just 4.1 innings of work.

It ended up being an iconic win for the Twins, with Pablo Lopez throwing a gem and Carlos Correa proving why he’s worth every penny of his $200 million contract.

Minnesota will kick off the first of back-to-back games in Houston, with first pitch Saturday scheduled for 3:10 p.m. CT. It will be a tight turnaround on Sunday, as the Twins will be back in action at 12:10 p.m. CT before taking the day off Monday to travel to New York to face the Yankees.

While MLB on FOX airs a handful of games each Saturday, the Twins won’t be part of that action today. Instead, the match will be broadcast on Bally Sports North for the six fans who can still access that channel.
