Austin police identify man killed in shooting at south Austin apartment

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin police have identified the man killed in a shooting at a south Austin apartment complex Wednesday. Police have not yet identified a suspect, according to a news release from the department Friday.

At around 8:40 p.m., officers responded to the shooting at 401 Little Texas Ln. When police arrived at the scene, they found a man, Olvin-Ponce-Aguilera, 40, with “obvious gunshot wounds,” the news release said.

Austin-Travis County EMS paramedics arrived on scene to assist, but Ponce was pronounced dead at 9:50 p.m., police said.

According to APD, Ponce was shot by a “known suspect” who left the scene.

APD said a reward of up to $1,000 is possible if the information provided leads to an arrest.

According to police, this is the 24th murder in Austin this year.
