Woman beaten, raped and carjacked in Claymont – First state update

Delaware State Police have arrested 26-year-old Keenan Brown-Meads of Claymont for sexual assault and car theft that occurred Wednesday evening in Claymont.

Officials said that on May 29, 2024, at approximately 11:55 p.m., officers responded to a residence on Philadelphia Pike after a sexual assault and car theft were reported.

Upon arrival, they learned that an unknown black suspect had approached the victim as she was exiting her parked car. The suspect then sexually and physically assaulted the victim before dragging her from her car and fleeing in the stolen vehicle, police said.

The victim, an adult female, was treated and released from a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials said Brown-Meads was arrested in Pennsylvania shortly after the incident. At around 12:20 a.m. Thursday morning, officers with the Tinicum Township Police Department in Pennsylvania noticed the stolen vehicle near Philadelphia International Airport and conducted a traffic stop.

The driver and sole occupant, identified as Keenan Brown-Meads, was taken into custody by Tinicum Township Police. Through investigative techniques, detectives from Troop 2 identified Brown-Meads as the suspect responsible for the assault and carjacking. Upon extradition to Delaware, Brown-Meads will face charges of second-degree rape, first-degree robbery, unlawful sexual contact, attempted strangulation and third-degree assault, all of which are considered felonies.
