Man tries to kidnap the woman he raped from her wedding, attacks family members and is arrested

MP News: A 22-year-old man has been arrested for raping and attempting to kidnap a woman in Ashoknagar district of India’s Madhya Pradesh state, police said. The incident, which created a furore across the state, surfaced on social media on Thursday. In the pictures, a group of men, including the main accused identified as Kalu alias Salim Khan, can be seen waving a sword and dragging the woman out of her house to kidnap her. The accused had defamed her through a video and later attacked her family when she married another man.

The incident took place when Kalu, along with his accomplices Jodha, Sameer and Shahrukh, entered the woman’s house. When she protested, they attacked her family and brutally beat her mother, father and brother.

The woman was saved thanks to the intervention of neighbors while her family screamed for help. The accused is also said to have threatened her fiancé’s family.

“The main accused raped the 21-year-old woman and shot a video of her. He threatened the woman and her family members not to marry anyone else. Recently, the family arranged their wedding. The accused along with three others came to the woman’s house and beat up her father, mother and brother. He tried to kidnap the woman but was rescued by neighbours. Later, he brandished a sword and ran away from the scene,” said Vineet Jain, Superintendent of Police, Ashok Nagar (SP).

The police filed two FIRs on the complaints of the woman and her father. The first FIR was filed on the complaint of the woman under sections 376 (rape) and 363 (attempt to kidnap). The second FIR was filed on the complaint of the woman’s father under sections 323 (intentional causing hurt), 294 (use of obscene language) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
