MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kansas — The front landing gear of a KC-135 Stratotanker was retracted around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday while the aircraft was parked on the airfield at McConnell Air Force Base, according to a statement from McConnell Air Force Base.

The crew had already disembarked before the incident. Two maintenance personnel were on board the aircraft at the time of the incident and three others were in the vicinity of the aircraft. However, no one was injured.

McConnell’s emergency crews were prepared for aircraft deployment and remain on scene.

“Today our Emergency Response Airmen put their training to the test and I am very proud of how they conducted themselves and executed their duties,” said Col. Cory Damon, 22nd Air Refueling Wing commander. “Other flight operations at McConnell were not impacted by this incident.” The incident is currently under investigation.
