House fire in Peoria remains under investigation

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) – A man and his several cats were unharmed in a house fire Tuesday on W. Nevada Avenue near Trewyn Park.

According to a press release from the Peoria Fire Department, when firefighters arrived they found thick smoke rising from a one-story home.

The damage was limited to two rooms because firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire, turn off the electricity and gas supplies, and ventilate the house.

Damage is estimated at $30,000. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
