A Bryan County man was arrested after a series of burglaries when he crashed into a home

BOKCHITO, Okla. – A man was arrested and booked into the Bryan County Jail Tuesday after a string of burglaries occurred in Bokchito and Caddo and his car crashed into a home.

The Bryan County Sheriff’s Office said it received a call around 9 a.m. about a burglary in progress at a home in the Bokchito area.

Carter Womble said his 17-year-old younger brother, Colton Parker, woke up to the sounds of the family’s dogs going crazy.

When Parker went to see what was going on, he saw the suspect, Brandon Leslie, trying to break into their house.

“He has a knife in his hand,” Womble said. “He’s halfway through the door, trying to get through, get in to get something.”

Womble said Parker told him to leave, but Leslie didn’t listen.

“He then goes into the parents’ bedroom, gets a gun and tells them to get out,” Womble said. “At this point he listens. He says, ‘Okay, I’m gone.'”

It looked like Leslie was going to leave, but instead made a quick U-turn and drove into the house – breaking glass, destroying furniture and narrowly missing Parker, who was standing inside.

“(Parker) got into his vehicle to follow him,” Bryan County Sheriff Johnny Christian said. “To get more information, possibly to get a tag, and his front tire was already slashed.”

Womble said he was incredibly proud of how his little brother handled the whole situation.

“Being young and having to deal with something like that, I think he’s done an extraordinary job of dealing with it,” Womble said.

Sheriff Christian said that after Leslie did his damage to Parker and Womble’s home in Bokchito, Leslie backed out, turned around and drove over 4 miles down the road to Caddo, stopping again.

“Another caller stated that his home on Buffalo Hill Road in the Caddo area had been broken into and a gate had been broken,” Christian said.

Leslie was eventually surrounded and arrested without incident after a deputy noticed a broken gate at Leslie’s third and final stop, a nearby ranch, while officers were canvassing the neighborhood.

Leslie is charged with first- and second-degree burglary, assault and battery with a deadly weapon, and six counts of burglary, among other charges.

Sheriff Christian said these charges could land him between 25 and 50 years in prison.

They are also investigating other possible break-ins in the area.
