A man was arrested after punching Steve Buscemi, according to the New York Police Department

A man was arrested on assault charges after authorities said he hit two people – including Hollywood actor Steve Buscemi – in separate incidents in New York City, police said. Clifton Williams, 50, is charged with second-degree assault and battery The New York Police Department told CNN in a statement that Williams allegedly punched Buscemi in the face last week while he was walking Buscemi in midtown Manhattan. Ten minutes before the May 8 incident, Williams is accused of hitting a 22-year-old man about 11 blocks away. The victim’s condition was unclear. Both incidents occurred on Third Avenue, police said. Buscemi was treated at a hospital for his injuries after the attack, authorities said, with “bleeding in his left eye,” the NYPD said of Buscemi’s attack. The actor’s publicist said Buscemi was “another victim of a random act of violence in the city.” It was the latest in a series of random attacks across New York City in which individuals said they were punched in the face out of nowhere as they walked through the streets. Buscemi is doing well and “appreciates everyone’s good wishes, although it is incredibly sad for everyone that this happened while he was also walking the streets of New York,” his publicist said in a statement CNN. The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office told CNN that Williams has not yet been charged and attorney information for him was not yet available. Buscemi was born in Brooklyn, New York. He is best known for his roles in films such as Reservoir Dogs (1992) and Fargo (1996), as well as television series such as Boardwalk Empire and 30 Rock.
