GOP lawmakers introduce bill to send arrested protesters to Gaza

NEW YORK (PIX11) – A new bill proposed by Republican lawmakers in the House of Representatives would require protesters to be convicted of illegal activities on college campuses to Gaza for six months of community service.

It was introduced last week by Republican leaders from Tennessee and Texas. Tennessee Rep. Andy Ogles, who introduced the bill, came under fire back in February after telling pro-Palestinian protesters, “I think we should kill them all,” according to a report by Al Jazeera.

According to a report by The Tennessean, Ogles later said that the comments were directed at Hamas and not the Palestinians.

The bill is unlikely to pass in the Democratic-controlled Senate.

Another bill proposed by lawmakers would revoke the visas of protesters arrested on college campuses who are not U.S. citizens
