Three people are injured in a traffic accident in east Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Three people were injured in a traffic accident in east Wichita Sunday afternoon.

According to Wichita Police Sergeant Doug Gerdes, officers first received a report of a disturbance involving a weapon at Towne East Square, or near South Armor Drive and East Kellogg Drive, around 12:45 p.m.


Upon arriving at the scene, Gerdes said officers were told that two cars were parked next to each other and that an occupant in one of the vehicles may have been waving a handgun, but when officers arrived, the cars drove away.

Officers briefly pursued one of the cars involved before calling off the operation and returning to the mall to contact witnesses.

Shortly thereafter, the accident occurred at East Kellogg Drive and South Oliver Avenue.

Four vehicles were involved in the accident. Only one of the cars was involved in the earlier call.

Three people were taken to a hospital. Gerdes says that two of them were suspects involved in the first call and that one of them was only able to get out of the car when life-threatening knives were used.

The area of ​​Oliver and East Kellogg Drive was temporarily closed. The reopening took place at 2:45 p.m
