SLIDELL—Detectives from the St. Tammany Parish Parish Sheriff’s Narcotics and Proactive Enforcement Units conducted several investigations involving illegal activity at Slidell hotels.

On Monday (May 6), investigators launched a proactive enforcement effort in these areas to combat the issue. In total, investigators conducted more than 30 traffic stops and came into contact with more than 50 citizens. This led to the issuance of traffic citations, the arrest of criminals and the seizure of illegal narcotics.

During a traffic stop on Gause Boulevard within Slidell city limits, investigators found 50-year-old Pearl River resident Bobbi Jean Zoller in possession of approximately 6 grams of crack cocaine, 1.5 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Zoller drove the vehicle without her license and attempted to hide the crack cocaine from investigators. Zoller was arrested and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center for the following:

  • 2 counts of LRS 40:967C Possession of Schedule II CDS (methamphetamine/cocaine)
  • 1 count of LRS 40:1023C Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • 1 count of LRS 14:130.1 Obstruction of justice
  • 1 count of LRS 32:53 Proper equipment required for vehicles
  • 1 count of LRS 32:411 person without a driver’s license

Investigators also approached two pedestrians who were observed visiting several hotels within Slidell city limits and determined that both were members of a violent Chicago-based criminal street gang, the Gangster Disciples. One of the subjects gave investigators a false identity but was ultimately identified as 29-year-old Mondrick Martin of Meridian. After Martin was positively identified, further investigation revealed that he was a fugitive from the Mississippi Department of Corrections wanted for illegal firearm possession. Martin was arrested and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center for the following reasons:

  • 1 count of LRS 14:108 Resisting an officer
  • 1 count of LRS 32:216 Improper use of roadway by a pedestrian
  • 1 count of LRS 2:00 fugitive by MDOC

Another traffic stop in the parking lot of a business in the Slidell city limits resulted in the arrest of two Mississippi residents, 48-year-old Aaron Newell and 24-year-old Olympia Elchos. The arrests came after 3 grams of marijuana and 3 grams of methamphetamine were discovered in the vehicle. Newell was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center for the following reasons:

  • 1 count of LRS 40:967C Possession of Schedule II CDS (Methamphetamine)
  • 1 count of LRS 40:1023C Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Elchos was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center for the following reasons:

  • 1 count of LRS 40:967C Possession of Schedule II CDS (Methamphetamine)
  • 1 count of LRS 40:1023C Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • 1 count of LRS 40:966C Possession of Marijuana (Summons Issued)
  • 1 count of LRS 32:123 Failure to stop at a stop sign

“Detectives from our Narcotics Unit and our Proactive Enforcement Unit work around the clock in areas, both outside and within city limits, where there is known drug activity to identify and arrest those individuals involved in these illegal activities Sheriff Randy Smith said. “I cannot praise these detectives enough for their hard work and the dedication they bring to their work.”
