Man dead and brother arrested after shooting in Macon

The shooting occurred on July 15 on Fair Street.

MACON, Georgia – A man is dead after being shot in a Macon home, according to Coroner Leon Jones.

Jones said 52-year-old Sean McCoy died Monday after being shot on July 15.

According to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office report, a deputy responded to a home in the 3600 block of Fair Street around 1:22 a.m. for a report of a person being shot.

When the deputy arrived, he was stopped by another man and taken into the house. There, the deputy found McCoy lying on the kitchen floor with a towel over his stomach.

The owner of the house and McCoy’s brother, Matthew Walker, came out of a bedroom and told the deputy that he had just come into the house when McCoy was shot and that he did not know what led to the shooting.

The man who brought the officer in was also questioned about the incident and said he did not see anything.

According to the report, all three men were obviously drunk, and there were beer cans and bottles lying around the kitchen and living room.

Walker was later arrested for aggravated assault.

Jones says an autopsy on McCoy is scheduled for later in the week.
