Police intensify investigation into ‘fire incident’ at sub-collector’s office in Madanapalle

Police, who have intensified their investigation into the alleged destruction of vital land records in the “fire incident” at the office of the Deputy Collector in Madanapalle, went to the residence of former YSRCP MP Nawaz Basha on Sunday evening, apparently to carry out a search operation.

However, since he was allegedly not present, it was said that the police were waiting for his arrival.

Sources in the police department said a team went to Mr Basha’s residence to conduct searches and serve him a notice under Section 41-A before taking any further action.

As the news spread, supporters of MLA and YSRCP cadres arrived at the spot in large numbers. However, they were dismissed by the police.

Earlier, in another related matter, a police team had conducted an eight-hour search in the rented portion of Sasikanth, identified as PA of former minister and YSRCP MP from Punganur, Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy, in Ayyappa Society area of Hyderabad.

Since Sasikanth was not present, the police raided the premises in the presence of the owner, a former MP, revenue officials and some local residents. According to reports, the police team seized some important documents during the raid.

It may be recalled that Madanapalle Municipality Vice-Chairman Jinka Chalapathi and some YSRCP cadres were detained by the police for questioning on Saturday.
