Agreement reached after fatal boating accident in Dennis in 2023

DENNIS – The Cape & Islands Prosecution Service reports that on July 15, 2024, David Sullivan pleaded guilty to manslaughter on a boat and possession of alcohol by a person under the age of 21. Judge Callan sentenced Mr. Sullivan to 5 years of probation with various conditions. This case stems from a boating accident on July 21, 2023 in the Town of Dennis in which 17-year-old Sadie Mauro (right) died as a result of her injuries.

The Cape and Island Prosecution Service consulted with the victim’s family, who supported the Commonwealth’s recommendation to impose a suspended sentence of 2.5 years with 5 years probation.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Molly Finn and Victim Witness Assistant Deb McCoy.
