Fremont police have arrested a Hayward resident for allegedly shooting his partner, police said Tuesday.

Police identified 38-year-old Krishan Sharma as a suspect after a woman was found dead of a gunshot wound in the area of ​​Lake Arrowhead Avenue and Alvarado Boulevard on Saturday night. Police said their subsequent investigation revealed that Sharma and the victim were in a relationship at the time of the shooting.

Police spotted Sharma driving a vehicle on Monday. After a brief chase, he was arrested. Police said they were holding Sharma on suspicion of murder and possession of a firearm.

Sharma is also charged with attempted murder and other offences stemming from a case in May. He was out on bail when the killing occurred on Saturday, police said.

The name of the woman who died in the shooting was not immediately available.
