American defender Caleb Wiley signs for Chelsea from Atlanta United

LONDON (AP) — Chelsea has signed American left back Caleb Wiley from Atlanta United to a six-year contract. Wiley, 19, joins the club for a reported $11 million. He has been with Atlanta’s first team since 2022 and made his senior national team debut for the U.S. national team against Mexico last October. Wiley is currently in Paris playing for the United States in the Olympic soccer tournament and is expected to spend next season on loan at Strasbourg, which is part of the same ownership group as Chelsea.
