Florida man arrested after making death threats against Trump and Vance on social media

A Florida man accused of threatening former President Donald Trump, U.S. Senator JD Vance and their families was arrested Friday (July 19), police said.

Jupiter police said 68-year-old Michael M. Wiseman was arrested Friday for sending written death threats.

According to Jupiter Police Major Don Hennessy, Wiseman was taken into custody without incident and is now being held at the Palm Beach County Jail.

A prison official confirmed that Wiseman was in custody at the facility on Friday evening.

The employee said she had no information on whether Wiseman had an attorney he could contact for comment on his behalf.

Investigators said Wiseman posted several written threats against Trump and Vance, the Republican presidential and vice presidential nominees, on his social media account Facebook this week.

According to police, threats of “bodily harm” were also made against members of the Trump and Vance families. Several people reported the posts to local police both in person and online.

It should be noted that Jupiter is located about 20 miles north of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home in Palm Beach. The investigation was conducted in coordination with the U.S. Secret Service and the Palm Beach District Attorney’s Office, police said.

The threat came just days after Trump was shot at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, a shocking attempt on the president’s life.
