Police investigate fire accident with four deaths

Waterbury police are investigating after four people were killed in a head-on collision Friday night, officials said.

On Friday around 11 p.m., officers responded to the area of ​​690 Thomaston Avenue for a report of a two-car crash. Police believe one car was traveling south on Thomaston Avenue at a high rate of speed and another car was also traveling north at a high rate of speed.

For an unknown reason, the vehicles then collided head-on in the northbound lane of Thomaston Avenue, police said.

According to police, there were three people in one car and one person in the other. All four are described as adults and their identities are not being released at this time. Police said both cars were fully engulfed in flames after the crash.

All four people involved in the accident were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Waterbury police said the accident is still under investigation.
