Governor Yusuf of Kano remains suspended – NNPP insists

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) had announced that Governor Abbah Yusuf of Kano State would be suspended until December.

This was stated in a statement by the party’s National Secretary, Mr. Oginni Olaposi, made in Abuja on Sunday.

According to the statement, the party will hold a strategic stakeholders meeting in Abuja later this month to discuss urgent internal matters of the party and is expected to be attended by all party leaders and elders in the country.

Sunday stated that critical issues affecting the 23-year-old political party would be discussed and clear decisions taken to further substantiate the exclusion of its presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Rabiu Kwankwaso, as well as Elder Buba Galadima and the entire National Working Committee led by Dr. Ahmed Ajuji.

He further stated that the stakeholders meeting was very important for the leadership of the NNPP to advance democracy and develop the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“The personal commitment of all participants and seniors in terms of their capacities and participation will be of great benefit to the success of the meeting.

“All members, especially those holding very sensitive positions of responsibility, are obliged to attend the upcoming meeting.

“All elected members of the NNPP platform should be equally aware of the consequences of anti-party activities ahead of the 2027 general elections if they boycott the session.

“And for the record, Kwankwaso, Galadima and all members of the former National Working Committee led by Dr. Ahmed Ajuji remain expelled from the NNPP.

“The governor of Kano State, Abbah Yusuf, will also remain suspended until December,” he said.

According to the National Secretary, the Constitution of the NNPP prevails over all members without prejudice to the high principles of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“We hope that INEC will assume the responsibility to respect the essence of internal democracy and the associated objectives for the growth and maintenance of democracy in Nigeria,” he added.
