Houston Astros’ Jose Altuve hit by pitch against Minnesota Twins

MINNEAPOLIS — Second baseman Jose Altuve left the Astros’ game against the Twins in the eighth inning Friday after being hit by a pitch in the left hand.

Altuve, who led off the inning, was hit by a 94.3 mph sinker from Twins right-hander Josh Winder. Altuve was examined on the field but was visibly in pain and grimacing as he headed to the dugout.

The Astros entered Friday with a season-high three games over .500, having won 12 of their last 14. They have been without right fielder Kyle Tucker since June 3 because of a bruised shin.
