US 287 closed after accident involving five cars near Longmont

DENVER (KDVR) — One person died and four people were hospitalized in a five-car crash on U.S. 287 Friday afternoon.

According to Mountain View Fire Rescue, it occurred south of Longmont and just south of Oxford Road.


According to the Mountain View Fire Department, one person died, four people were hospitalized and two people declined treatment after the accident, which was reportedly a high-speed head-on collision.

US 287 was closed shortly before 2:30 p.m. while emergency crews investigated and cleaned up the accident scene. It was reopened around 5 p.m.

The Colorado State Patrol and the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office investigated the accident.
