One dead after car crash in east Columbus, Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – One person is dead in a car crash early Wednesday morning on Columbus’ east side.

According to police at the scene, the male victim was pronounced dead at the scene after the vehicle crashed at the corner of East Main Street and Wilson Avenue in the Franklin Park neighborhood.


According to police, officers arrived at the scene of the accident at around 1:50 a.m. The car was apparently traveling east and crashed into several poles before coming to a stop at the intersection.

There was significant damage to the front and rear of the car. The rear tires were torn off the vehicle and the front bumper was ripped off.

East Main Street has been closed in both directions since 5 a.m. Wednesday morning while emergency crews continue to clear the scene and officials investigate the accident.
