FORECAST DISCUSSION:

Nice Wednesday!

It’s a big day for Central Ohio, with Red, White & BOOM! set for tonight. Unfortunately, we’ll have to keep an eye on the weather as the event approaches.

Firstly, it’s much more humid outside and temperatures are really rising. For this reason, there is a heat warning in effect today at noon, with temperatures expected to reach almost triple digits. Make sure you stay hydrated, wear light colours and loose clothing and take breaks in the shade.

Then, towards the end of the afternoon/evening, isolated storms will develop. Storm chances will increase later in the evening, but the storms will be scattered, so it will depend a lot on exactly where the individual storms form. We will be watching closely.

According to the Storm Prediction Center, Columbus has a 2 in 5 chance of strong to severe storms. The main hazards are lightning, gusty winds and locally heavy rain.

Download the Storm Team 4 mobile weather app and stay informed about the weather. We’ll keep you updated throughout the day.

Unfortunately, storm activity will intensify on Thursday afternoon, the Fourth of July holiday.

The storms will continue through Friday before finally dissipating over the weekend.
