Charlotte FC loses to Houston Dynamo away

HOUSTON — Historically, Charlotte FC has held a dominant record over Houston Dynamo FC. But Saturday ended Charlotte’s winning streak, both against Houston and in games.

It only took one goal for Houston to win, scored early in the match. Midfielder Ibrahim Aliyu benefited from an assist from striker Sebastián Ferreira to break through Charlotte’s defenses just five minutes into the match.

Unfortunately for the black and blue, the team couldn’t respond in the first half. Nor in the second. Even though extra time was running out at the end, Charlotte couldn’t leave the game with a draw. Houston defends its home ground with a 1-0 win and Charlotte loses three points in MLS. This also ends the black and blue’s four-game winning streak.

The black and blue return to the Queen City on Wednesday, July 3, with a post-game fireworks display, presented by Blue Cross NC. Charlotte’s opponent is Inter Miami CF, against whom Charlotte has a 2-1-2 record. Kickoff at Bank of America Stadium is at 7:30 p.m.
