MBA student raped and attacked by man she befriended on the train

A 23-year-old MBA student from the city was allegedly raped and assaulted by a Gwalior man she had befriended on a train six months ago, police said. Bhupinder Kaul Siddhu of Chunabhatti police station told Free Press that the woman went to the police on Saturday.

She told them that six months ago, she had travelled to Mathura by train and had boarded the wrong carriage, which led to her being separated from her mother during the journey. As her mother also kept her mobile phone, she asked the help of fellow passenger Shubham to call her own mobile phone using his mobile phone.

After speaking to her mother, she went to the bus in which her mother had been sitting. In the meantime, Shubham had saved the woman’s number and contacted her again. The two started talking frequently. On Thursday, Shubham came to Bhopal and called the woman to meet her at a city hotel. When the woman went there, Shubham allegedly raped and brutally assaulted her when she was protesting. A police complaint was filed on Saturday and the police have started searching for the accused, they said.
