Two people arrested in Carson City after 11 pounds of fentanyl were found during a search of their vehicle

CARSON CITY, Nev. (KOLO) – The Carson City Sheriff’s Office arrested two people in south Carson City Friday morning after allegedly finding 11 pounds of fentanyl powder and pills in their car.

The sheriff’s office charged drivers Brandy Martinez, 25, and Emily Rochin, 22, with fentanyl trafficking, fentanyl possession, and conspiracy to violate the Controlled Substances Act.

The CCSO Special Enforcement Team stopped the Kia sedan they were in on Fairview Drive near Interstate 580 for a traffic violation.

Martinez appeared nervous and visibly shaking while investigators spoke with her, the sheriff’s office said. Rochin answered simple questions that did not match Martinez’s and displayed deception, the sheriff’s office said. Both admitted there were narcotics in the vehicle.

Police dog Cash alerted to the presence of drugs in the vehicle.

The sheriff’s office said the packaging of the fentanyl indicated someone was attempting to smuggle drugs on their person.
