Two Waynesburg residents killed in car crash in Greene

Two people from Waynesburg died in a head-on collision between two vehicles in Franklin Township on Tuesday.

The Greene County Coroner’s Office identified one of the victims as 76-year-old Linda Phillips. State police said Denny Phillips, 70, also died from injuries sustained in the crash.

According to police, the accident occurred just before 1 p.m. in the 200 block of Route 19. Linda and Denny Phillips were in a Ford F-150 traveling south when it crossed the double yellow line and collided head-on with a northbound SUV.

Police identified the driver of the pickup truck as 52-year-old Stacey Elaine Lewis of Waynesburg, who was injured. It was not immediately clear whether she would face charges.

Angela Louise Miltz, 56, of Graysville, was the sole occupant of the northbound SUV and was also injured.

According to police, Linda Phillips was pronounced dead at the scene. Denny Phillips was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia, where he later died.

The state police investigation is ongoing.
