The MRC suspends its Director General

The MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges has commissioned the company Loranger Marcoux and its human resources department to investigate its general manager and treasurer, Guy-Lin Beaudoin. Beaudoin was suspended for the duration of the proceedings.

At a special meeting late Wednesday afternoon, a majority of elected representatives present passed a resolution to suspend Mr. Beaudoin from his duties while retaining his salary. The suspension of the Director General, who has held the position for nearly 15 years, follows a recommendation from elected representatives who sit on the MRC’s Human Resources Committee.

In addition to the suspension, the elected officials requested that an investigation be opened to confirm or refute the allegations made against Mr. Beaudoin. For confidentiality reasons, no details of the allegations were disclosed.

Sylvain Brazeau, mayor of Coteaux, rejected the resolution and called for a vote.

As provided for in the statutes, the vote was by double majority. In the end, the resolution was ratified by 68% of the votes cast and 83% of the population. Only the mayors of Les Coteaux, L’Île-Perrot, Pointe-des-Cascades, Rivière-Beaudette, Saint-Polycarpe, Saint-Télesphore and Très-Saint-Rédempteur were against it.

The elected representatives of L’Île-Cadieux, Rigaud, Saint-Justine-de-Newton and Pointe-Fortune were absent.

Alexandre Lambert, currently acting Deputy Director-General, will also act as interim Director-General until the procedures are completed.
