Heat warning for New Jersey, extreme high temperatures expected throughout the week

A heat warning is in effect for most of central and western New Jersey, including Salem, Gloucester, Camden, Burlington, Ocean, Monmouth, Mercer, Middlesex, Hunterdon, Somerset, Morris, Warren and Sussex counties.


A heat warning is in effect for all of New Jersey except the southeastern counties.

An air quality warning is in effect for all northern New Jersey counties and most of central New Jersey.

The high heat and humidity will continue today. We expect temperatures of up to 34 degrees. If it reaches 32 degrees this afternoon, we can officially speak of a heat wave. The high heat and humidity will continue all weekend. Air quality will continue to be affected this week.


Thursday and Friday are hotter, with temperatures expected to reach 38 degrees on Friday. Friday is the day when the heat is at its most dangerous, so please take the appropriate precautions.


Isolated thunderstorms are possible on Friday in the late afternoon and evening after 4 p.m. They will not break the heat and humidity, but they may improve the poor air quality for the weekend somewhat.

Saturday is another hot and beautiful day. Thunderstorms will return on Sunday evening.
