FIRST WARNING: Extreme heat Friday-Saturday

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) – A weak low pressure system will bring windier conditions with gusts of 20-30 mph to the desert Southwest tonight.

Temperatures will continue to be well above normal throughout the weekend as a high pressure system forms again, causing extreme heat.

A Excessive heat WARNING has been issued and will go into effect for parts of Imperial County from 10:00 a.m. Friday to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, with highs expected to reach around 46 degrees.

A day of action for the weather agency’s first warning will go into effect in Imperial County on Friday and Saturday as temperatures are at least 12 degrees above normal.

Remember to always drink enough and protect yourself from heat.

Even though Yuma County is not on a First Alert Action Day, we will still have extremely hot temperatures on Friday and Saturday, with highs exceeding 110 degrees.

Fortunately, temperatures will begin to cool down on Father’s Day, and early next week, weather conditions will become more seasonable.
