1 dead in motorcycle accident near Winfield, road closed

COWLEY COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) – Investigators are on the scene of a fatal crash west of Winfield. Cowley County Sheriff Dave Falletti said the accident occurred around 5:20 a.m. Wednesday morning on U.S. Highway 160.

He says it appears a motorcycle collided with a deer and a person on the bike died. Falletti also mentioned that several other vehicles were involved, but was unable to elaborate. No one else was injured.

The Kansas Highway Patrol has its crash investigation team on scene. The KHP has closed a portion of Highway 160 and traffic is being rerouted. The road is expected to reopen around midday.
