Houston Methodist to Open System’s Largest Ambulatory Care Center at Kuykendahl Road, Grand Parkway

Construction on the Houston Methodist hospital system’s largest outpatient care center is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2025 in the spring, hospital leaders estimate.

The big picture

The Houston Methodist Mega Health Center, expected to be completed in late 2026, will offer comprehensive care with a “strong presence” of orthopedics and sports medicine, said Nathan Jacobs, vice president of operations for the Houston Methodist Physician Organization . Located on the northeast corner of the intersection of Kuykendahl Road and Grand Parkway, the center is expected to serve between 600 and 700 patients per day across all departments.

“One of our key initiatives is to provide greater access to care for the community, by putting these outpatient care centers in the community, so that there are more Houston Methodist facilities closer to the consumer,” said Keith Barber, CEO of Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital.

The center is expected to be four or five stories tall and cover approximately 120,000 square feet. Jacobs said the center will likely include:

  • Approximately 70 exam rooms receiving 400 to 450 patient appointments per day
  • Physiotherapy and occupational therapy services
  • MRI and CT services
  • Spaces for primary care and multispecialty physicians
  • An ambulatory surgery center
  • A laboratory

The Kuykendahl Center is one of two mega care centers planned by Houston Methodist Hospital leaders, Barber said. More details on the centers will be announced as the project develops.
