1 dead in traffic accident on Seward Highway

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – A northbound Chevrolet S-10 reportedly crossed the centerline of the Seward Highway between Ingram Creek and the “Welcome to Kenai” sign Sunday afternoon and struck a pickup truck pulling a motor home, Alaska State Troopers Lt. Justin Freeman wrote in a news release.

The driver of the S-10 was pronounced dead at the scene. Two people in the pickup were taken to an Anchorage hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Seward Highway was closed for about six hours. Cooper Landing Emergency Services reported the accident at mile marker 55 at around 2:25 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

“There is no evidence that alcohol played a role,” Freeman wrote.

The crash is currently being investigated.
