New York State Police manhunt in Burke ends with arrest of four teenagers

Four teenagers are charged with illegal possession of stolen property and resisting arrest following a manhunt in New York State’s North Country.

A car with long guns inside was stolen Friday afternoon in Berkshire, New York, in the Empire State’s Southern Tier region. Police tracked it nearly 250 miles into Franklin County; it became stuck in a field in Burke Friday evening. New York State Police asked for help locating two teenagers who escaped from the stuck car – Jaden Labare, 17, of Plattsburgh, and Devan Bell, 16, of Buffalo. They were caught Saturday morning at a camp in Burke, north of Route 11.

Labare and Bell are in juvenile detention, as is an unnamed 16-year-old from the Buffalo suburb of Amherst, New York. An unnamed 15-year-old has also been charged in the case and has been released to his parents.

One of the unnamed youths was arrested Friday night when the car got stuck. Police are not disclosing who that was, or when or where the other unnamed youth was arrested.
