Vandalism at the University of Minnesota is being investigated

Police are investigating an incident at a Jewish student organization on the University of Minnesota campus, where windows were damaged around 2 a.m. Friday.

University of Minnesota police arrived at Minnesota Hillel in the 1500 block of University Avenue and found significant damage to the building’s windows, authorities said.

There was no SAFE-U alert – the university’s safety reporting system – to report the incident.

SAFE-U alerts are used when an emergency or dangerous situation is confirmed that poses an immediate or ongoing threat to campus, university officials say.

UMPD determined that there was no longer a threat to the building and no one was inside at the time of the incident.

Minnesota Hillel is a university-affiliated student group for Jewish students, and their building is a gathering place for Jewish students, according to their website.

UMPD says they are investigating the incident and are working closely with Minnesota Hillel.

Since Friday evening, the damaged windows have apparently been repaired.
