Man on sex offenders register jailed for rape – South London News

A man who was on the sex offenders register for sexually assaulting a child in the early 2000s has been jailed for raping a woman.

Michael Wynter, 34, of Crayshaw Road, Lambeth, appeared at the Old Bailey on April 30 where he was found guilty of raping a woman at an address in Pinner between 2019 and 2021.

On the same day he was sentenced to seven years in prison.

Wynter was arrested in December 2021. As part of the investigation, police collected communication evidence from both the suspect’s devices and the complainant’s devices.

They spoke to a witness in whom the victim had confided throughout the ordeal and took into evidence a detailed formal statement from the complainant.

Wynter had been on the sex offenders’ register since 2021 because he was convicted of sexually assaulting a child between 2002 and 2003.

He will now remain on the sex offenders register for life.

Detective Constable Adam Conibeere, who led the investigation, said: “Wynter is an extreme sexual predator who raped a woman while she was asleep or unconscious.

“I would like to commend the victim-survivor who bravely navigated the entire investigation and trial and I can only hope that this outcome will help provide some comfort and the closure she deserves as she tries “To move on with your life.”

“She showed incredible strength and heroism when, after much consideration, she came forward to report the matter because she did not want anyone else to suffer at Wynter’s hands.

“Tackling violence against women and girls is a top priority for the Met.

“We will continue to do everything we can to remove predatory offenders from the streets of London, while supporting complainants and helping them at every stage.”
