We are entering a period of the hottest temperatures of the week

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – High pressure is pressing on the surface atmosphere and winds are shifting southward under clear, sunny skies for several days. This build-up will bring several very warm days inland. East of the highway we will see temperatures rise to the mid and perhaps upper 90s today, tomorrow and Friday. If you include humidity in the heat index, the perceived temperatures approach the 100 degree mark. It’s been a while since we’ve seen temperatures this warm. As a hot weather reminder, be sure to stay hydrated and take rest breaks in cool places if you must be outside during the hottest part of the day.

A weak cool front will sink south over the weekend and reach the tip of Florida on Sunday morning. The front can lower dew points by a few degrees; However, temperatures remain warm.

Another front will stall over Central Florida on Monday, potentially bringing better rain chances to the Sunny Coast. The front helps collect moisture over the state. As a result, cloud cover will increase and temperatures inland will drop by a few degrees.
