The hip-hop artist had only received a Grammi a few weeks ago – Sweden’s most prestigious music award, equivalent to the American Grammy Award.

He is not to be confused with Grammy Award winner Childish Gambino, the stage name of US singer and actor Donald Glover.

The death of C. Gambino occurred just a few years after the shooting of another well-known Swedish rapper.

Nils Kurt Erik Einar Grönberg, known as Einár, was just 19 years old when he was killed in an “execution-like shooting” in 2021.

According to Swedish public broadcaster SVT, the shooting of the rapper was related to a gang scandal.

According to Swedish media reports, police could not rule out gang warfare as a reason for the latest murder.

Investigators stressed that this does not necessarily mean that the victim himself was involved in gangs, although reports suggested he may have had links to a local group.

C. Gambino’s death occurred just a few years after the shooting of another well-known Swedish rapper, 19-year-old Nils Kurt Erik Einar Grönberg, known as Einár.

After the murder, the police task force searched an address in Gothenburg, Expressen reported.

Several people were brought in for questioning, but according to police there is currently no suspect.

A man who has lived in the area for 15 years and was nearby at the time of the attack told the Dagens Nyhter newspaper that the shooting was only the latest in the area after a man was shot in the foot on Sunday.

“Unfortunately, I think we can expect more,” he said. “But this is not the gang that was in 2011-12. These are younger people, the older ones are sitting there. We have a new generation coming up here… It’s sad.”

Several witnesses reportedly saw a car leaving the scene shortly after the shooting. It was reportedly a silver Volvo V70.

The investigation is ongoing, police said, and they are asking the public for information.
