Two more suspects arrested in Meadowview shooting that left five injured, police say

Two more people were arrested in connection with a Memorial Day shooting in Sacramento’s Meadowview neighborhood that left five people injured, police said. Charles Head, 42, was arrested on a charge of attempted murder. India Thomas, 29, was arrested on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon. Both are Sacramento residents and were being held at the county’s main jail. Police said neither suspect was taken to the hospital after the May 27 shooting. The shooting was reported around 8 p.m. in the 70th block of Coral Gables Court in south Sacramento. Three men, a woman and a teenager were shot. All survived, and one of the injured, Jayovanni Head of Sacramento, was arrested and faces two counts of assault. Head’s next bail review and mandatory plea bargain hearing is June 12. Relatives of Jayovanni Head said he was trying to protect children by wrestling another person’s gun and he should not be considered a suspect in the shooting. Two more people have been arrested in connection with a Memorial Day shooting in Sacramento’s Meadowview neighborhood that left five people injured, police said.

According to police, neither suspect was among those hospitalized following the May 27 shooting.

The shooting was reported around 8 p.m. in the 70th block of Coral Gables Court in south Sacramento.

Relatives of Jayovanni Head said he was trying to protect children by taking the gun from another person and should not be considered a suspect in the shooting.

They said two other people were injured, including Head’s grandmother and his 17-year-old sister.
