Outrage over order: Houston lawyer shot and killed in fight with McDonald’s customer

NEW DELHI: A tragic incident took place at a McDonald’s in Houston where a lawyer, Jeffrey Limmer, lost his life while trying to defuse a confrontation with an angry customer over an order error.

According to authorities, the 46-year-old attorney acted as mediator after the customer requested a refund from an employee at the McDonald’s located on the West Interstate Highway 10 service road Saturday around 6 p.m.

Refusing to deescalate the situation, the shooter redirected his aggression towards Limmer, sparking a heated argument between the two. The confrontation escalated when they went to the parking lot, where Limmer allegedly pushed the man to the ground, according to police testimony.

After the altercation in the parking lot, the customer retrieved a gun from his vehicle and shot Limmer before fleeing the scene in a blue Ford pickup truck.

Limmer was pronounced dead at the scene and police have yet to make any arrests.

Limmer’s sister, Jennifer Thomas, told ABC 13 that her brother was known for his ability to calm tense situations, always advocating for fairness and standing up for what is right.

Limmer, who lived near the McDonald’s, was a frequent customer of the restaurant, according to his sister.

He was a graduate of the University of Texas and received his law degree from South Texas College of Law. Limmer worked as an associate at the Lewis Brisbois law firm in Houston.

Thomas said it was his brother’s nature to try to calm the man who ultimately took his own life, given Limmer’s dedication to helping others.

As the family awaits justice for his death, they are proud of his courage in standing up for what he believed in. Thomas highlighted Limmer’s role as a good Samaritan who stepped in to protect McDonald’s employees from distress.
