Fatal lawnmower accident in Charles County under investigation

LA PLATA, Maryland. – A fatal lawn mowing accident in Charles County is under investigation. Emergency crews arrived at the scene of the accident at the Animal Clinic of La Plata, 6685 Glen Albin Road, at approximately 6:55 p.m. on June 2, 2024.

The 911 call was made by a woman who wanted to check on her husband after he failed to return home. When officers arrived, they found a dead person trapped between an overturned tractor and a tree. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s name has not yet been released.

Initial investigations indicate that the tractor driver may have hit a tree stump while mowing, causing the tractor to tip over.

A forensic scientist from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner was called to the scene. The investigation into the incident is ongoing and is being led by the La Plata Police Department.
