16-year-old girl shot dead by stepfather who committed suicide before his rape trial – Crime Online

A 16-year-old Massachusetts girl was kidnapped and murdered by her stepfather on Thursday. The father had been posted on bail for raping the girl three years earlier and had a restraining order against him.

Juliana Santana, 49, shot himself after shooting the girl, identified by his family as Christina. Police found him and his victim after the murder-suicide by tracking him via the GPS monitor he was wearing, WBTS reported.

They were in Santana’s vehicle, which was parked in front of his victim’s house.

Investigators said Santana kidnapped Christina as she walked near her home after school on Thursday. The manager of a nearby supermarket said she called a sibling from the parking lot and said Santana had kidnapped her. The family called police, but they were unable to find her in time.

Santana was charged with rape after the victim told investigators he had sexually abused her multiple times since October 2019, when she was 11 years old. He was arrested the day the charges were filed but was quickly released on $30,000 bail.

He was ordered to wear the GPS surveillance camera and not to have contact with anyone under the age of 18, including the victim. However, such an order and a GPS surveillance camera alone do not deter an offender from violating the order.

Santana’s trial was scheduled to begin on July 29.

Peter Light, superintendent of the Acton-Boxborough Regional School District, said the victim attended Acton-Boxborough Regional High School and all students in the district are offered counseling, according to WCVB.
